BRITT + CYNS SUMMER BEAUTY: TIPS FROM MAKEUP ARTIST BARBARA YNIGUEZ
Summer beauty can be fresh, easy and fun with just a few adjustments to your regular routine. Getting a gorgeous summer glow for Cynthia and Brittany starts from within. Both women know that taking care of their bodies and minds with healthy eating and exercise is their biggest beauty "secret". An individualized skincare regimen, along with a few cosmetics for effortless summer glow, are the hidden gems for these ladies.
First, let’s talk about the girl’s skin care essentials:
Brittany's beauty routine is simple but effective. To keep her smooth skin hydrated and bright, she alternates between Beauty Counter Cleansing Balm and Beauty Counter Charcoal Cleansing Bar. The Charcoal Cleansing Bar keeps her skin clear and smooth while the Cleansing Balm gives her that extra calming and moisture if her skin is dehydrated or irritated. Brittany's can't-live-without product is Perricone MD Deep Moisture Therapy. By utilizing products with both high and low price points, she balances her beauty budget and splurges on her favorite spa treatments. Aside from swearing by the importance of getting 8 hours of sleep per night, regular facials keep her skin healthy and glowing. Some of her regular treatments include microdermabrasion and oxygen facials.
Cynthia is a busy mom on-the-go, but she makes the time to care for herself and keep her golden complexion glowing. She relies on Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel to keep her skin squeaky clean without drying her out. She loves Dr. Hauschka Eye Balm to moisturize the delicate skin around eyes because it also minimizes the appearance of fine lines. Finally, she uses Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist throughout the day for an extra little boost of moisture. Cynthia swears by keeping her hat and sunscreen handy to protect her complexion from the California sun, along with all-day hydration. That's right, don't forget those water bottles! Cynthia also sees her facialist every eight weeks for microdermabrasion. She loves micro-needling to promote collagen production, reduce fine lines, and add extra glow to her complexion.
Now, for the makeup:
Creating a signature look that captures both women's vibrant beauty and unique taste is a makeup artist's dream. I met Brittany first, and our aesthetic was an instant match. When I met Cynthia, my objective was to honor her individuality while incorporating a balance with Brittany since they are photographed together so often. None of this was a challenge since both have impeccable taste and gorgeous faces.
The twins’ beautiful healthy skin is the perfect canvas for sheer coverage with an added glow. I prep their skin with Facial Spray with Aloe Herbs and Rosewater by Mario Badescu and a light moisturizer. One of my go-to products is Enlightened Radiance Cream by Skinn. It has a built in golden glow that radiates through makeup. I prefer to use a sheer coverage foundation like Diorskin Nude Air Serum by Dior. This keeps the skin fresh and light, not overdone.
A warm peachy blush is the color for summer. A new favorite is the California Dreaming Cheek Palette by Lorac. I follow this up with Film Star Bronze and Glow by Charlotte Tilbury in Medium to Dark. I swipe the brush across both colors to achieve a perfect warm bronze. Paired with a coral or peach sheer lip, both girls look bronzed and flawless.
For eyes, we definitely love lots of fluttery lashes. Both Cynthia and Brittany have perfected their mascara skills and achieve that perfect lash line. Cynthia gravitates toward a shimmery gold lid with a soft crease in a warm amber tone, while Brittany goes for top and bottom smudged liner. Britt loves trying new colors, so we usually choose something to coordinate with whatever she is wearing. Finally, we perfect their brows. Cynthia loves a nicely arched brow and so to achieve that we use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe. Brittany's brows are softer and less defined so for her we use Burberry Effortless Eyebrow Definer in Taupe for that softer effect.
