RELAX AND RECHARGE AT MII AMO SPA IN SEDONA

Who doesn't love the thrill that comes from checking things off your "to-do" list? We (ok, mainly I) can get cranky knowing tasks are lingering. Between work time, partner or family time and social time it's easy for "me" time to fall off the list. Cyn and I like to remind each other that taking time for ourselves isn't selfish. It's one segment of self care. We need it to unwind, refocus, recharge. We need it to reconnect with our soul.

I love to begin my day with a meditation and yoga. Cynthia gets up earlier than her kids to have some quiet time with a cup of tea while taking in the majestic mountains outside of her kitchen window. Cyn and I know that when we allow ourselves to walk away from our routines we can come back to our responsibilities with heightened focus, commitment and enjoyment. So, when our dear friend Corie Tappin (Board-certified Physician of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture @Soulspacemalibu) couldn't stop raving about her stay (or how she successfully pretended not to notice Gwyneth Paltrow was a guest) at the Mii Amo Spa in Sedona, we couldn't book our own trip there fast enough.

It did not disappoint!

The Mii Amo Spa is nestled into the red-ribboned Boynton Canyon so you are treated to breathtaking, serene views from every angle. You will feel the healing energy of this special place right away. The staff is warm and welcoming and eager to cater to your every whim. I still smile remembering the sumptuously fluffy, white, bathrobe and clean, soft, spa slippers they provide that I NEVER wanted to take off.

When we weren't bike riding through the tranquil red rocks, we took advantage of the guided hikes, meditations, lectures, yoga classes and specialized treatments. The therapists are gifted and highly perceptive. Many of the treatments are inspired by Native American traditions. My favorite was the Aura Soma Color reading. We were shown glass bottles filled with a wide array of colored liquid. I was drawn to the ones that were varying shades of blue, which represented "deeply spiritual and intuitive abilities," our instructor informed me. He encouraged me to embrace the power that comes with the healing effect I have on others. I spent quite some time talking with our guide and I left the session feeling that my path to wellness involves trusting myself more with big life decisions.

If you and your friends or partner are in need of a spiritual reboot, there's no doubt that the Mii Amo Spa is your spot!
