STYLE SPOTLIGHT: FLYNN SKYE
Summer is by far my favorite season. Not only do I love warm weather, but it is also hands-down my favorite season for fashion. Growing up in Florida, Cyn and I never had to build up much of a winter wardrobe, and to this day, I always seem to neglect my colder weather wardrobe. Not only do I find summer fashion generally more playful and fun, but it is also a lot less work! For me, throwing on a cute sundress or romper is a lot easier than trying to pair the right pants with a top, shoes, jacket, etc.
That’s why I was particularly excited to discover Flynn Skye — This Los Angeles based clothing brand is pretty much the epitome of flirty feminine meets girl boss. I love the way they are able to take the perfect summer piece, and add a little edge to it. Flynn Skye’s designer Amber Farr really understands a woman’s shape, what to accentuate, and how to flatter it in a bold but classy way. Their pieces are ones that can easily transition from day to night, and also typically come in a variety of patterns and colors (their trademark is floral prints).
Recently, we picked up a few of our favorite pieces from their Summer 2017 collection, and had to share with y’all on The Sweet Life. Even though my style is more modern and edgy than Cynthia’s, we are both big fans and had no trouble finding pieces that we couldn’t part with. Their collection appeals to my preference for more fitted and tailored look and also on her preference for a more bohemian loose fit.
I love to find a beautiful white piece — They are rare! White is the perfect crisp color for summer, and when I tried on this Ariel Jumper, I had to have it. The look is clean and feminine with just enough sex appeal, and most of all … it’s SO comfortable! I don’t think you’ll be able to get me out of it on my honeymoon this summer!
This piece is something you can dress up or down, and with my schedule, that’s important to me. I could see myself wearing it to a fun beach party or for an elegant dinner in Malibu.
A budget conscious way to change up the look is through accessories — Some light chain necklaces with flats for day, and a statement piece with heels and a jacket for night.
CYNTHIA'S TAKE ON HER OUTFIT: “I love this outfit because it’s classic, slightly sexy and age appropriate. The fabric is quality and the reveal between my top and bottom is just enough that it doesn’t expose my whole stomach. The bottoms are high waisted, so they elongate my legs enough that I can comfortably wear flats or heels with the pants.
To me, the most important part of fashion is being comfortable. Brittany and I are both built with broad shoulders, and if we have the wrong tank top on, we can feel like linebackers! This tank gave just enough coverage.
I could see myself wearing this combo to a barbecue or concert, but the other day, I threw on a Helmut Lang blazer with it and headed to a meeting. I think a colorful scarf would add just the right amount of summer flair too.”
