PRO TIP: NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE GLOSS
It’s finally summer!! Like true California girls, we love this season and make it one of our favorite times of year to ditch the regular old makeup routine of contouring and foundation and just be a little more natural. Time to bust out your favorite sunless facial tanner and embrace being natural! However, this doesn’t mean you can’t still feel a little glam too! What we think a lot of people misunderstand about summer glam is that you don’t have to wear a lot of makeup to still get a gorgeous and polished look. We will let you in on our little secret — There is one key ingredient: LIP GLOSS. Highlight your sun-kissed features with some concealer, put on a dab of mascara, and finish with a touch of lip gloss, and you can give your whole face a stunning sparkle!
Say it with us ladies, I will not bother wearing lipstick this summer! Similar to lipstick, lip gloss has the ability to complete your outfit and take it to the next level, but it doesn’t have that same super heavy and pigmented look. A light coat is perfect for day, and if you want to step it up a little for a night time look, add some liner and reapply more frequently. We know this sounds like a small and minor detail, but when you are going for that effortless summer glam look, we have had many makeup artists over the years make us swear off lipstick. Now the real question is, what kind do you buy?
If you have stepped foot in a Sephora recently, you will notice that there are literally thousands of lip gloss options — And they don’t all come cheap. From light and shiny to matte or semi-matte, your options for a summer lip are endless. It can be a little overwhelming and daunting to choose which kind to buy and how to wear it, so we have done the leg work for you!
We enlisted the help of Los Angeles makeup artist (and friend) Emma Willis of Countour Fossa to dish on her favorite glosses and let us in on which ones are actually worth spending the money on.
