CHIC SUMMER HATS
I spent my entire young life in the sun with no hat on, so by my late 20s I realized the sun damage that I was causing my skin, and became obsessed with protecting my face! Now, you won’t ever find me in the sun without a hat for more than a few minutes. Britt and I may live in California and be beach lovers, but we always protect our faces first with sunscreen and hats.
Luckily, there are tons of stylish ways to protect your face from the sun — I like to look at it as an excuse to shop! Selecting a cute hat is also a way to express yourself with fashion and have fun with your look. I’m a big fan of putting together a simple and cute outfit that you are comfortable in, and then accessorizing it — Hats are a perfect way to do this! And the best part about wearing a hat? You don’t have to do your hair!
When I shop for hats, there are few key things I look for. First, size matters: Get a hat that sufficiently covers your face from the sun (but not like Kentucky Derby coverage)! Second, if you’re going to invest in a high-quality hat and spend a little more money, then I suggest getting a neutral color so that you can wear it with any outfit and all year around. And finally, I love to look for hats with an interchangeable band so that you can switch up the band color and even add a feather accent to it.
